Electric scooters originated in Western countries. From 1919 to 1922, the German company Krupp produced a gasoline-powered means of transportation, which was the earliest prototype of the modern "electric scooter".
In 1993, Germany produced a real electric scooter, which relies on the combination of a transmission scooter and modern electric drive control technology. Since then, this scooter has become popular in some Western European countries. It became popular in the United States in 2000 and then became a popular means of transportation in Europe and the United States. After that, electric scooters were considered as a means of transportation that could gradually replace cars in the 21st century. In 1999, the electric scooter officially entered the Chinese market. At that time, Chinese's acceptance and awareness of new things were not yet in the development stage, so electric scooters did not receive enough attention at that time, and it was not until the end of 2005 that they began to appear on the streets of major cities in China.
Electric scooters are generally divided into two-wheel drive and single-wheel drive, the most common transmission mode is hub motor, belt drive two, and its main power source is lithium battery pack. Single-wheel drive has only one drive unit, which is generally rear-wheel drive, while dual-wheel drive has two drive motors.
The main consumer group of electric scooters is young people, and they are often used as a means of transportation within a few kilometers of the city. The mainstream electric scooter brands in the market include Xiaomi, Ninebot, Hilop, Lenovo, Arlang, and others. Among them, Xiaomi and Ninebot Nine have received widespread attention due to their high sales and good reputation.
Electric scooters are known as new energy vehicles because of their low power consumption, about one kilowatt-hour per 100 kilometers, and low carbon dioxide emissions, which helps to reduce environmental pollution. However, due to the design of the structure, the electric scooter also has many defects, such as average range, cannot carry people, and is not allowed to drive on the road.
